Graves’ ophthalmopathy or thyroid eye disease is an autoimmune condition that affects both the thyroid gland and the structures surrounding the eyes. This disease causes inflammation and enlargement of the ocular tissues within the orbit, resulting in protrusion of the eyes and retraction of the eyelids, resulting in “protruding eyes”. At Somos Mirada, we provide a comprehensive approach to the treatment of this condition, with the goal of improving our patients’ eye health and quality of life.
