International Patients

and outside of Buenos Aires

How do you schedule an appointment?

The process starts with a virtual consultation which will be in charge of different medical specialists. The choice for the medical specialist, will depend if it is a functional or esthetic consultation and of the pre-existing conditions the patient might have.

The appointment can be requested via the following channels:

Once the appointment is requested, an advisor from our team will get in touch with the requestor in the language of preference (English or Spanish) and will ask them for their data along with the required documentation depending on each appointment.

What documentation can be requested?

  • For pathology consultations: tests and/or photographs
  • For esthetic consultations: photographs from the patient from previous years
  • Psychological questionnaire for pre-existing conditions
  • Photographs from front and profile view

How to confirm the virtual consultation?

The consultation is confirmed once the payment has been made, 48 hours before the appointment. It is necessary to send over: proof of payment and the requested documentation mentioned before, to our team. This way, the doctor will be able to analyze all of the information before the appointment.

Once confirmed, the advisor will get in touch with you to provide all the necessary instructions and send you the link for the meeting, to be able to achieve a successful consultation.

Length of the consultation
If it is functional: 30 minutes
If it is esthetic: 40 minutes

After the virtual consultation

Following the first virtual consultation, the advisor will again get in touch with the patient to learn how the appointment went and to answer any doubts or commentary the patient might have. They will also let the patient know that they will get a formal proposal with the treatment plan, put together by our whole team, including the details of each step of the process and the final budget.

The advisor will be available to assist any enquiry regarding the proposal and the service that is going to be provided.

Before the surgery

Once the proposal and the budget are accepted, the following steps will be planned out and together with the advisor, the date of the surgery will be established.
*The surgeries of the patients who reside outside of Buenos Aires, are performed on Wednesdays. It is important that the patient can be present on Tuesday, the day before the surgery, to attend the in-person appointment with the Somos Mirada team, at our clinic.

We recommend that the day prior to the surgery is used to rest and prepare what might be necessary (purchases, comforts, etc.) so that when you go back home, after the surgery, it won’t be necessary to go back out and you are able to rest.

What does the pre-surgery in-person appointment entail?

The goal for the in-person appointment, the day prior to the surgery, is to meet the medical team and go over the details of the treatment plan.
We will take photos, measurements and ophthalmological care.

The night after the surgery

The day of the surgery, a daily postoperative kit will be handed over at the clinic to everyone, except to patients who are getting tear duct surgery, since they will need larger preparation.

After the surgery is over, it is recommended that the patients stay at least the first night in Buenos Aires.
Eight days after the surgery, an in-person check-up appointment will be scheduled and in case it is necessary, stitches will be removed.
Those patients who aren’t able to assist in person at the eighth day post surgery, can have a virtual follow-up.

After the surgery

  • The whole post-surgery process will be accompanied by a virtual follow-up through a WhatsApp group chat, exclusive between the patient and the Somos Mirada team.
  • Three months after the surgery, there will be a virtual check-up appointment, or an in-person one, in the case the patient is in Buenos Aires, and they will be discharged.
  • Four, five or six months later, an in-person meet-up can be scheduled, depending on the patient’s agenda.

Frequently asked questions for international patients or from inland Argentina

Can I travel alone, without a companion?
Yes, most patients travel alone without a companion. In case you don’t have an acquaintance in Buenos Aires, we recommend you use a trusted car service, or remis, to organize the trip to and from the airport.
We will provide you with a list of hotels or apartments depending on what the patient might need.
After the surgery and after the stitches are removed, the patient can: move, walk, work and live their life normally. However, the medical team will give the necessary recommendations for each surgery and each patient.
